Obsessed. I’m obsessed. Oh, did I mention? I’m obsessed. This was the most perfect, joyful beginning of summer read I could’ve asked for. I am a huge sucker for anything summer camp-related, and this book absolutely lived up to my high expectations. On top of all that, it’s a sapphic frenemies to lovers? AND there are multiple Survivor references? Yeah, there was no way for me to not fall in love with this book.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the arc!

Thank you to Penguin Young Readers and Erin Baldwin for this sapphic summer camp read. My dream as a kid was to get to go to summer camp and I never got too. I had to live vicariously through my friends that got to go. So when I saw this book I was like yes please. And what a summer camp this would have been!
The story was medium paced I’d say but it was really cute and I liked following the “coming out story”. I really enjoyed seeing the camp activities as well since I never got to experience them myself. The frienemies to lovers was a nice touch as well.
I really liked both of our characters. Juliette was a great character to follow as she found herself over the course of this novel. She also found her place with friends and family. Pryia grew as well. She got the girl she had been besting over for almost her whole life and it was rough getting there lol. Both girls deserve each other for sure and I’m glad we got the sneak peek of how they are doing.
I would recommend this read. Again it was a great sapphic read that others would enjoy.

Thank you Netgalley and Penguin for my copy.

Super fun and will definitely make you feel like you're at summer camp! I really enjoyed the camp atmosphere and the wide cast of characters. Juliette makes for an overall great main character. Loved her friends Lucy & Gia as well, not to mention the staff members (Pat, TK, Flagstaff, etc.)... they added such a richness to the story. I also really liked Priya, the love interest, a lot! I'll be honest in that I got more of a friends vibe from Juliette & Priya, even toward the end (as opposed to 2 girls in love), but it was still a great read.

🌶 (kissing only)

As a queer woman who grew up a camp kid, this books hits in all the right ways. As much as this is a romance novel, it is more about figuring out who you are as a young adult, which is what makes it so relatable.

Juliette and Priya have different struggles in their daily lives. Juliette struggles with feeling invisible, especially among her six siblings. Priya struggles with always being in the spotlight, an only child and an influencer. Juliette has always used camp to escape those feelings in her life and Priya gets to learn how to do the same. (This is a common camp kid thing, I promise. It made it all the more authentic to me.) Along the way, they fall for each other.

Oh gods, every single character in this book is just so incredibly insufferable. I just can’t anymore. Yeah, that’s it. That’s the only reason I’m DNF’ing. The story is fine enough. I don’t hate the writing. It’s just characters. I can’t do it.

I received a galley of this through Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

ahh this was so cute & made my heart so full! we follow juliette and priya, classmates who can best be described as frenemies, as they get stuck as roommates at the summer camp juliette considers her home away from home. juliette expects the worst from priya, but when priya turns out to be different than she thought, they begin to form a real bond.

i really enjoyed the setting of this book. the camp was a character in itself, and it felt vibrant, with descriptions of the sense of community that the campers form. you really get to understand juliette's feeling of belonging when she's at fogridge, and because that is so well developed, it ups the stakes for everything to go right during her last year as a camper there. i also liked the way that juliette's feelings about camp pushed
her to extend olive branches to priya, and how that progressed their relationship throughout the story. also, the pop culture references felt like they were written for me (hey fellow survivor fans & theatre kids!), so that made it even more fun to read.

this is a perfect summer read for any YA romance reader!

thank you penguin teen & netgalley for the eARC, and PRH audio for the ALC!
