Not quite 4 stars, but what I liked about this, I really liked. The premise is slightly better than the execution; some of the dialogue could be tighter, some of the prose could stand finessing, and I occasionally wanted to remind the characters that there wasn't time for chatting while lives were in danger. But the storyworld systems and the plotting are impressive, and knowing this is a debut, I'll definitely read more from the author. Just added A Snake Falls to Earth to my TBR!
