Scoop is a funny commentary about journalism and class, which often hits the mark but also often misses. Like many books of this time its prejudice is clear to be seen, undermining itself- particularly regarding power structures- by the obliviousness to its own bigotry. That being said this bigotry is still an interesting lens to understand the past i and how perspectives changed by group, particularly as waugh was as i understand more progressive.
All in all this was a mostly enjoyable read which was interesting although sometimes for the wrong reasons. Would have rated slightly higher if not for the end which really did not hit the mark for me at all.
