A Gorman university professor & a shy, awkward student are our storytellers in this feminist thriller about strong, brave women avenging other women who have been abused by men.

Scarlett, a well established, intelligent professor at Gorman university teaches Literature classes to her students by day & is a avenging angel by night. She kills men that have abused, harassed or sexually assaulted women. She thinks this is the only course of action that will stop these men from doing this to defenseless women. She covers up her crimes and makes them look like suicides or accidental deaths. On the verge of her biggest kill yet, the college starts looking into these "suicides" as something more & Scarlett hurries to protect herself and her crimes from being brought out in the light.

Carly, a shy, awkward university student who has just started her freshman year at college. Coming from a rough home & being raised by a emotionally abusive, adulterous father and mother who has given up any hope of having a life without her husband. She gets paired up with a roommate named Allison, fun, bubbly and outgoing theater student. At a party Allison gets sexually assaulted by another student & Carly becomes obsessed with bringing her rapist to justice. She even develops feelings for her & hopes they can be together.

About halfway through the story you find out how these two women are related & it is executed in a brilliant way. It really does help the story & character development more. You get to see how trauma can really drastically affect a person & change them in more ways then one. It is amazing how the author managed to put so much character development between so many people in this book. I also thought the romance in the book was very well done and believable. Although I'm not sure how believable it is that Mina would accept Scarlett doing all these things but I can forgive it on the basis of fiction. The ending to me felt a little out of place, like it fit more into a romance novel rather then a thriller.

Overall, if you are looking for a tale of revenge, love & suspense then give this book a read. You will definitely come away with a understanding of how brutal & hard this topic is & how it is something we need to pay attention too. How hopefully in the future, we can put an end to it once and for all.

This book had potential, but In the end I feel like it fell flat. It did not live up to its comparisons. “If you’re a fan of... you’ll love this...” That did not ring true for me.
