3.5 This is a nice book, and if you read Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Café, you'll enjoy the reunion with characters who feel like old friends. That said, this book doesn't have the depth of Fried Green Tomatoes and jumps around from "back when" through many decades to today. There are a lot of inconsistencies. Though the book tries to catch you up on who's who and what's what, you really need to read Fried Green Tomatoes first for this sequel to make sense. The story is heartwarming and sweet and if you're a fan of happy endings, this will work for you, but I was disappointed with how little substance there was in this book.

❤️

Was ok. I enjoyed finding out what happened to all the characters from the original story Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe, but as a stand-alone this was kind of meh for me.

This book tells the stories of the previous residents of Whistle Stop, Alabama, once a great little town now abandoned to the kudzu vines. Great characters, wonderful stories told with humor, insight, and pathos. The book helped me to recall some of my own stories when growing up and the people who enriched my life. Thank you, Ms. Flagg.

Whilst not particularly heavy plot wise, it is a rather nice addition to the stage of Whistle Stop. I really liked how Buddy Jr turned out, I just wish there had been a bit more Ruth in it.

I was a bit worried about a follow up to the wonderful tale Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe but this one was a winner and gives nice closure to the characters we grew to love in the original story all those years ago. I would love to see this made into a movie with Kathy Bates reprising her role but I am not sure that will ever happen.

This book picked up where Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe left off and Flagg's mastery of storytelling brought you seamlessly right back to the beloved characters she started years ago.

Sarebbero 2 stelle ma alcune parti risollevano il libro. Un giocattolo divertente per chi ama Idgie e Ruth, ma che purtroppo è ben lontano dal primo libro. Solo per veri appassionati

Loved this book! What a great sequel to the first book. It really fills in the spots and also what became of people. I had a blast reading it. If you want to read something not that difficult and fun.. read these 2 books!
