Fannie Flagg just touches a special place in me. I enjoy her breezy people stories and it was absolutely wonderful getting to dip into the lives of characters from Fried Green Tomatoes.

My wonderful neighbor loaned me this hard back copy. Loved the story but it was a little complicated following all the characters and changes in time fram.

Thank you to NetGalley and Random House for the e-ARC of The Wonder Boy of Whistle Stop. What a delightful read. Once again Fannie Flagg remains a consummate storyteller. She seamlessly blends characters and time periods into a warm, funny reading adventure. Now it makes me want to go back and re-read Fried Green Tomatoes and the Whistle Stop Cafe!

What a comforting return trip to Whistle Stop, Alabama!

I am a huge fan of Southern fiction....by those who know and love the South, while understanding its problematic history. Fannie Flagg gets it and expresses it beautifully with colorful, humorous, nuanced story telling.

I enjoyed this continuation of the story through the eyes of Buddy Threadgoode, son of Ruth, nephew of Idgie and adopted by the Threadgoode clan. Through flashbacks, reminiscence and annual newsletters from Dot Weems, Whistle Stop's unofficial historian, we learn more of the story that began with Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe.

For fans of the movie, one of the most surprising and delightful aspects was learning what became of Evelyn Crouch, played by Kathy Bates. Evelyn's transformation is remarkable and sweet.

For those who miss Whistle Stop, Alabama, this is a wonderful story of 'whatever happened to?' and a love letter to anyone who grew up in a small tightnit community.

Many thanks to NetGalley, Random House and author Fannie Flagg for the complimentary e-book in exchange for my honest opinion.

I just love Fannie Flagg’s stories. Perfect.

I was so happy to be able to visit The Whistle Stop Cafe again. I love Fried Green Tomato's so much and just HAD to have the second book. Ms. Flagg is still at her heartwarming best and I have read everything she has written. There are not many author's I can say that about. The book is a quick and easy read, with short chapters, that tell us about the past and the present.

Not many books make me laugh out loud but Fannie Flagg's wonderful latest novel did! It's a real page turner and brimming full of fun and kindness. The characters are real and flawed and just like us and somehow things always turn out for the best. Although this book isn't nearly as good as the first one, I found it inspiring and satisfying. A perfect read for anytime but particularly during these challenging times.
