First read Fried Green Tomatoes in the early 1990s. At the time it was important to me for it's positive depiction of a romance between two women. Re-reading it, I found further joys. This novel does not disappoint either. It's warm hearted portrait of memory and the undying power of love is just what I needed to bread. Absolutely loved it.
I bet Fannie Flagg has been asked a million times, "What happened next to the characters in [b:Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|9375|Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe|Fannie Flagg|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1165961740l/9375._SY75_.jpg|2129359]?" 33 years after the original book was published, Flagg finally gives us her answer. This book has the same whimsical tone that adoring fans will expect. It was a nice break from more serious books that I typically read. On the flip side, there was some repetition in the book and a couple things that didn't totally jive.
I listened to the audio version that was read by the author. Based on her voice and the sugary sweet Southern story, I suspect Fannie Flagg may be a pseudonym for Dolly Parton. I mean that as a compliment because who doesn't love Dolly?

This was a sweet trip back to Whistle Stop. Flagg still doesn't say the word lesbian but at least we get, "She was more than a friend" (paraphrased).
This book is such a treasure to read. I truly enjoyed getting reacquainted with old friends, meeting new friends and being transported back to Whistle Stop. The author did a great job sewing the stories of generations together. This is a book I could easily reread many times. The author's storytelling is very warm and calming like a cup of cocoa on a cold winter day.
a little slow at times but the ending was really sweet
A cute but trite and implausible return to Whistle Stop.
A sweet, quick read. A series of short stories really, that all flow together. It will please all “Fried Green Tomatoes” fans. Light and enjoyable.
