This was an interesting read for sure. The begging was very slow for me. It took awhile before I felt it really started going. Once the plot sped up, it got better. I was originally going to rate this a 2.5 star. But, that ending brought it up to a 3 star for me. Worth the read.

I was really enjoying this book for the first 90% of it. It was creepy, mysterious, and suspenseful. Until it wasn't. The climax to this story left me confused and wanting. It felt like the author didn't know where she wanted to go with certain elements. I mean, was the house haunted? Were the town people nuts? What was the deal with the main character? I thought the end would clear it up, and it did and didn't. I still have questions. I really liked the creepy elements in this book. I jumped a few times in bed when I heard a noise in my house while I was reading this. I rushed through the book having to know what was going to happen, and the explanation to it all was just watery. Oh well. I got creeped out, so I'm not too disappointed.

i def didn’t like this book but against all odds, the worst part was the narration of the audiobook!!!! fiona hardingham count ur days hunny

3.5 stars rounded up.

This book kept me guessing, and honestly the epilogue made me wonder what the true situation was. Because of that, I lowered my score as I like absolute resolutions.

It was a fast read and i enjoyed the inter-twined news updates that added to the mystery.

The author’s note at the end was touching and made me glad I supported her book.

Okay, we have another haunted house story to add to your spooky TBRs, friends!!

This was a fast-paced, unsettling read for me. On one hand, it was a thriller about Sarah, a social media influencer who decides to buy a "murder house", a home where a brutal murder occurred, with the intent to reignite her career and possibly save her marriage as well. Sarah wants to fix up the house, breathe life back into it, chronicle the process on social media and hopefully resell the house for a profit.

The book is set in Australia, a setting I love and the story itself is somewhat compelling for a thriller. But the narrative reads partially as a deep descent into mental illness and I couldn't help but feel for Sarah as she tried to somehow deal with her own demons, her financial situation and her failing marriage.
