First of all Goodreads, I suppose there could be a worse summary for this novel than the one you provide. This one is only wrong in most every detail. Sheesh.
This is fantastic little book best read in a single sitting. There are no true surprises--you know who will die, who will kill him, and why within a few pages--but Marquez manages to ratchet up the tension with every page nonetheless. I'd love to teach this if only to examine more carefully how he manages it. The last chapter, the morning of the murder itself, is as taut and fraught with peril and terror as anything I know, and--again--you know exactly what's coming. Masterful work, and easily my favorite non-One-Hundred Years offering from Marquez.

Es la primera vez que leo al autor y la verdad es que me quede con ganas de seguir con sus obras. La forma en que esta narrada me recuerda en cierta forma a Temporada de Huracanes, por la manera es que empezamos con el final de la historia y aun así es capaz de atraparnos para saber que es lo que sucederá.
Esas últimas páginas donde todo va tomando forma en la mañana del suceso, te brinda un rayo de esperanza sobre el destino de Santiago.
La época y el contexto son clave para entender como se llego a esa conclusión, no solo en la acusación hacia Santiago, también en las acciones de los hermanos Vicario así como del pueblo. Al final la misma sociedad fue culpable de su destino y de que esa noticia no llegara a sus manos con tiempo, por dejarse llevar de prejuicios, percepciones y reglas sociales.

Es un inmensísimo ejercicio de escritura. Gabo reinventa la estructura como le da la gana y lo hace bien. Genial.
