This was an absolutely delightful version of the Little Red Riding Hood story. Red (Rojita) was an orphan that was cared for by a shoemaker and his wife, who had a knack for collecting orphans and raising them. The husband passes, leaving very specific instructions for how his legacy is to be passed down. Red, being an heir, finds herself being pursued by the Wolf, who wants the land for himself. She steals a horse and races home to secure her legacy, encountering a bounty hunter, Hank, on the way.
Red is strong-willed and a delight to read. The story is fast paced and funny. The smattering of other fairy tale characters in Everland makes me giggle in delight when I discover another. The chemistry between Rojita and Hank is sweet and heart-pounding. The story is surprisingly complex for something so short, but I felt it was well plotted and gave enough detail to keep me anxiously turning pages. Fairy-tale lovers and western lovers alike will find this story a must-read that you'll peruse over and over.
I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review.

A Little Red Riding Hood Retelling that had me swooning. I was more than a little confused by the "magic" aspect introduced at 60 ish percent? But I LOVED all the fairytale references throughout. If you like retelling and just want a sweet, fun read this is it.

Childish romance ruins potentially interesting background characters

Main characters' naivete, shallow romance and instant "tingles" completely ruin what could have been a decent story. Their 7th grade conversations (with each other & even their own inner dialogue) are worthy of eye rolls and groans as they move along a predetermined path of bad fairy tale romance. I went with 2 stars though because of the interesting secondary characters they meet along the way. If only the main characters were as interesting and had been more developed. Well, except for the villain , who's cookie-cutter, one dimensional character should be trashed entirely and rebuilt from scratch. If the rest of the books are poor fairy tale romance novels, count me out.

Little red

I'm loving the Everland series. The spin on little red riding hood is a fun read. The story about Hank and Red is a sweet historical romance set in Everland with lots of heart, passion and magic.

This was a great continuation to the series and it was great to learn more about the town of Everand, Wyoming. It was a retelling of Little Red Riding Hood but with a twist, in that the Big Bad Wolf is a gunslinger called El Lobo.
All the characters were well developed and believable if not particularly likable in the case of El Lobo. The plot kept me hooked from cover to cover.

Hank Cutter finds Rojita in the woods on the outskirts of Everland where she's injured. She's on her way to Everland to her Grandmothers on the run from El Lobo one of the West's most notorious gunslingers, but she doesn't realize the importance of the Old adage about frying pans and fires until she's placed herself in danger. Hank is about to retire from being a bounty hunter and is dreaming of the lonely little cabin in Arizona, to hang up his gun and find peace finds. When he finds Rojita he doesn't realize that they are kind of connected to each other by the fact that they both know El Lobo

All the characters in this book especially the main ones were developed in a way that you learned what you needed to for the purposes of the book but that there was more than enough room for them to be able to develop further in future books. I really loved Rojita, Hank, and Rojita's Grandmother as they were great characters. Rojita's Grandmother was a great character because although she was as Nasty to Ella as her sisters when they were around when they weren't around it was clear that she actually genuinely loved Ella because she wasn't as
However, I really hated El Lobo (The big bad wolf) as he was a truly evil person who believes that he
he has more right to her grandfather's property than she does as he's his brother and that by making her marry him he'll get his hands on it

I fall in love with the town and its inhabitants more each time I read about them so can't wait to find out more about it as I read the other books in the series. The way Caroline described the town, events that occur in the story and the characters in the story really enabled me to connect well with the book as a whole

All in all I thoroughly enjoyed this book and know that I will enjoy the series as a whole as I have already read twp of the other books in the series.

I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys historical western romance retellings because it fits in this genres very well. This book is one that I will, without doubt, both recommend it to/buy it for anyone who enjoys books that fit into the genre's mentioned above.

This story was quick, simple, and sweet. Not too much more to say other than it's just a cute little piece of fluff.
