I admit, it's been a while since I read the last 3 books that follow these characters, so I spent the first part of the book catching up and remembering everything that happened! Great fun delving into Valek's past, and an interesting plot that teases bigger things in the next few books...

I love this world and I'm always happy to be back in it. Yelena is one of my favorite fmc's, so I was excited to finally get back into her pov after reading the Glass series.
However, I was so confused who the antagonist was. I realized late into the book that they were from a short story that I haven't read yet🤦‍♀️. So that's my bad.
I found the change of pov's a little tiring. I enjoyed hearing more about Valek's backstory which makes sense considering the direction of where this story is going. However, it was a lot. I also could have done without Janco's pov even though I love him.
Overall, I liked it but not a favorite of the series.

hmmmmm, I am not sure about this one. I was so happy to be back in the world of Yelena and Valek, but it didn't go where I wanted it to go. Plus it didn't help that it too me 3 weeks to read it (I was so busy with school work)

my mind can’t even comprehend everything that happened in the book and the last line left me feeling and i literally RACED to grab the next one in the series off my shelf. so i am off to read that now cause WHY WOULD YOU END IT LIKE THAT MARIA (seriously though, i love it)
