I can't believe how much I hated this book.

It's fan service, the whole thing but not in a kiss and lovey dovey kinda way. More like the author didn't put her all into this one.

Full of fillers.

Boring.

I loved the characters but now I don't care about them.

And the end? I hate it when this happens in books and yeah, I'm not gonna finish this trilogy and I'm gonna try and erase it from my mind.

This series better find my soul too. Who allowed Yelena to be pregnant tho?? Like what part of “fighting a war” did you not understand??

THAT ENDING!!

I HAVE SO MANY FEELINGS !

Alright.. So, I wasn’t planning on picking up this book originally. The reason for that was, that to me, the ending of 'Fire Study' was more than satisfying as an end to the trilogy, and I was afraid that the rest wouldn’t be as good and that continuing on with the series would ruin my fondness for the original trilogy. The fact that there is another trilogy taking place between the end of 'Fire Study' and this book wasn’t helping either.

However, considering that I already have all of the six books, I decided to give it try, on the ground that at the first sign of a downfall, I'd call it a quit and forget that the extra three books ever existed. And THANK GOD for that decision!
I loved this book so much <3

It's worth mentioning, that I've skipped reading the glass trilogy, and that didn't, in any way shape or form, hinder my understanding nor my enjoyment of this book.. So, there is that.

“Dead air surrounded me.
My magic was gone.”

In terms of plot, there wasn't much happening when compared to the previous books, but that didn't make it any less enjoyable.
Instead of the single POV of Yelena that we had in the original trilogy, this book switched between 3 different POVs:
Yelena, Valek, and Janco.

Oh, my!! Valek's chapters were the highlight of this book, I loved them so frickin much <3

As for the commander!!

I don’t even know what to say.. Like, What's up, dude!

Loved the direction the latter half of the Poison Study series is taking.....can’t wait to see how Yelena grows as a character, and excited to see where the story goes.

2.5

I enjoyed re-visiting Yelena and Valek and I liked the inclusion of Valek's POV and how we get some of his back story. I could have done without the 3rd POV (Janco) though. While I like Ari & Janco as support characters I like them as a team so I wasn't particularly happy with lots of Janco and very little Ari. And Janco on his own is quite irritating. I don't particularly like the Commander ( and didn't in the other books either) and this book just reinforces that. I have always had a problem with Valek's blind devotion to him (maybe not in the beginning but certainly after he fell in love) It is ok to be loyal and devoted but not blindly and at the expense of everyone in your life, including the person you love. Thankfully this book plants the seeds for change in that respect.
