I think the quote at the beginning of the book sums it up perfectly: "Life - the way it really is - is a battle not between Bad and Good, but between Bad and Worse."

This was a great story about gray morality and the beliefs that justify and set forth immoral actions. I loved the battle between the two main characters; it drew me in from the first page. Both are equally horrible but also believable people. I also really liked all of the side characters, they didn't feel like tools or pawns in the story but lived-in characters of their own. The pacing and structure of this book were so well done and fit the plot perfectly! It really heightened the tension in the right parts and gave some more explanation of past events where it was necessary.

A well-deserved first five star of the year!

Vicious. No wonder it's called that. This book is certainly no walk in the park, unless the park is dark and you get stabbed by someone while walking through it. This was a really well written book, with complex thoughts, as 'is there really good or bad?' I liked how the book switched between different timelines and wasn't a chronical recounting. The supernatural system was well explained and fascinating. A lot of murders. A lot of death (but there is a cheat in the game, so not all deaths are definitive). It's a very good book.

The half star is because it time skipped back and forth so much. And then through different people.
But honestly, in the end, it was worth it.

A fascinating take on "super powers" that I genuinely don't think I've seen before. Clustered with love/lust, friendship, revenge, and everything in between; Vicious is a book I would 1000% recommend to anyone looking for something a little dark but a lot interesting.

Holding out that one day someone might read this and think "This would make a great movie." And then proceed to make one.

Absolutely love this book. One of my all time favorites. I really did not like Eli he annoyed me the whole time. Can’t wait to read more about Victor in vengeful I love his character.
