Tossing up between 4 stars and 3.75 stars because although I did really enjoy the book, I can’t get passed how much of an ass the MMC is to the FMC and the pacing seems off in most of the book but still, it was cute
This story has it all. It was sweet. It was swoony. It was emotional and it even made me laugh. I enjoyed this story so much. Every Rachel van Dyken book I read makes me love her writing even more and this story was no different. I am so in love with these characters and found myself rooting for their happy ending. I loved being on their journey and seeing the way their relationship developed through out the book. I could not put it down. I absolutely cannot wait for more from this author and I can't wait to see what she has in store for us next.

sincere apologies but this felt like the knockoff version of poppy and alex. like why is rip an insane person who fully switches his opinion on colby in .5 seconds??? the kids were cute so points for that i guess.
fast-paced
My rating: ⭐⭐️.5
Quick Overview:
Polar opposites Rip and Colby become co-parents overnight to their best friends’ children after their sudden death. Now, each must adapt to this new life and to the feelings that come with it.
Thoughts:
I was so excited by the premise but this was so disappointing. The pace was absurdly fast and the whole thing was lazily written. Dialogue was unrealistic too. There were some wholesome scenes that were the only good part.
Tropes:
Enemies to lovers
Best friend’s brother
Found Family
Grumpy x Sunshine
Forced Proximity
Second Chance Romance
Opposites Attract
Was a three star, gained a star for making me cry.
Perfect for fans of the movies Raising Helen and Life As We Know It. I genuinely really loved this one and flew through it. Hard to put down and with lovable grumpy/sunshine MC’s, it’s a really sweet story about finding family. I both laughed out loud and cried. I wish we had gotten to see a bit more from the side character, the neighbor next door who becomes like a grandmother figure. The one year later epilogue felt a little too happily ever after, not bad, just didn’t feel realistic given the info we had about the characters (mostly side characters). But overall it was a really quick and engaging read.
I personally didn’t love the God stuff but for anyone who isn’t bothered by that, it wasn’t excessive, just too much for me.
TW: grief, death of a parent/sibling/friend, car accident
