Great book, great historical fiction that takes back to the Jim Crow south, and the way it was for Black people. But the moves made and the plots twists and turns wow!

4.5 stars.
Two Black sisters in trouble in the 1964 deep South--what could be more terrifying than that? Wanda M. Morris creates plenty of suspense and builds her story with skill leading to a satisfying climax. Perhaps too satisfying, since it is hard to believe that the denouement will not return danger to the sisters' doorstep in the near future.
The world Marigold and Violet live in is the scariest element of all, as angry southern whites seek revenge for the overthrow of Jim Crow. Morris creates this world with a sure hand.
"Anywhere You Run" is frightening on so many levels. The finale is a little too much, especially considering the Wanda Morris' nuanced handling of the rest of the novel. But this book is good, and not to bemissed.

The ending was like whoa! I didn’t expect that to happen at the end, and I was also very sad about what happened too. Even though both of the sisters lost a lot of things by the events that happened that let them to where they ended up they did end up gaining something else in the process and that was freedom. this book is categorized as a thriller, but I wouldn’t really say it’s a thriller is more of a low-level thriller with some historical fiction. I still enjoyed it, and I enjoyed two perspectives from both sisters, what their thoughts were, what they thought of each other and what they thought of the situation surrounding them.
Moderate: Racism, Rape, and Murder

3.5 - hard to read due to the content, and periodically difficult for me to keep details straight as a tired parent listening to an audiobook, but a good read overall.
