The book wasn't bad by any means, but it didn't really click for me. I'm wondering if the fact that one of the characters used hearing aids explains the disconnect.

I reread this with the hopes of enjoying it more than my last read. Unfortunately, my feelings were about the same. It was cute, but the plot was rushed and didn’t delve into the characters as much as I would’ve liked.

A very cozy, magical story with hints of deeper themes that ultimately fell short.

If you’re a fan of cozy magic, found family, queer love stories, disability and queer representation and beautiful illustrations then this story is for you!

This graphic novel was a quick read, easy to follow and beautifully illustrated. The art style is just beautiful and fits very well with the whimsical and homey vibes, characters and themes within the novel.

The characters felt relatable and grounded, even in the face of magic and demons. That being said, the relationship between the two main characters and the deeper themes, such as lack of belonging, grief and bigotry, felt rushed and very surface level. The shared history of said characters was only briefly touched upon so it felt more like instant love rather than a childhood best friends to lovers love story.

I really did love the found family aspect and the magic and having illustrations to accompany those scenes really elevated my experience and enjoyment.
