Fantasy graphic novel with great art work and story. I picked this up as I’d read The Infinity Particle by Wendy Xu which is incredible, you can see the progression of the art style, from this graphic novel to The Infinity Particle

Very cute story between a witch and werewolf. I love the characters and the respresentation and the plot. However, the story and romance's paces were rushed, especially the romance. While they are very cute together, there's no build up to their feelings, so you just accept that they love each other. It would have been better to watch their love blossom and grow. The plot at times felt very rushed such as the first chapter, and sometimes felt slowed down and then rushed such as chapter 5.

Overall, cute read, pacing could be better.

I don’t know why it took me this long to read this.
This is so sweet and fun. It has the same general vibes as a classic Halloween movie like Halloweentown or Hocus Pocus, except better, because it has a lot of diversity.
Our story follows a witch named Nova, who is Chinese American and wears a hearing aid, as she helps her queer grandmas run a bookstore. She stumbles upon her childhood friend Tam, who is a werewolf, and also nonbinary.
They band together, with the assistance of Nova’s grandmas, to deal with a demon who is roaming the woods. Tam is struggling to access her wolf magic to help handle the demon, and both Nova and Tam are struggling with what it means to grow up.
Their romance is very sweet and gentle, and I loved it. I love childhood friends to lovers in general, and this is a perfect example. It’s a bit surface level, as is to be expected from a single volume graphic novel, but it’s very lovely regardless.
Also, Nova’s other best friend, Tat, who is a refreshing take on the skeptic in a witchy story, because she’s a scientist who struggles to wrap her head around the magic she can see happening, but she’s not obnoxious about it- she wants to understand, as a friend and as a scientist.
Also, I want to give an honorable mention to the forest spirits. They’re very cute, and every one could be turned into a plush, but they’re also feisty and end up helping fight the demon later, while being cute. We stan.
Also, there is a very cute black cat, and she is very important both by being cute the entire book and crucial to the plot at least once,
This is the perfect cozy fantasy read, and it’s the kind of book that I wish I could put in a time travel machine and send back to my teenage self.

Fun to re-read the webcomic
