It’s amazing how even with all of that upfront, this book still managed to be a nail-biter. Aaron’s body going missing is just the ratcheting of the rollercoaster this book takes you on. It’s uncomfortable from start to finish, but fascinating. Lila’s demeanor seems true to life for someone with untreated trauma, barely bothering to defend herself or even act like she cares about her husband’s death.
The only thing was the ending seemed out of character for Ginny.

While these content warnings weren't excessive or vivid, the sheer number can make the read overwhelming. I would not suggest reading until you are in a good headspace.nerddreads's review against another edition

after reading THE REPLACEMENT WIFE earlier this year, I was severely disappointed in darby kane’s work and I was worried that all of her books were going to be lackluster. but I’m so happy to say that it’s not the case!!!!
I absolutely adored PRETTY LITTLE WIFE for all of its cunning little secrets - from the suspicious wife (who most likely killed her husband and got away with it) to the young girls involved in her husband’s life to his loving brother to even the damn nosy neighbor!!! 😳
everyone was wayyyy too suspicious for me at one point or another I swear … and I LOVED IT!
the main detective ginny was a selling point for me though! not only was she fierce and determined, but she was way too smart for her own good 🤪 I kept wanting her to get one step closer in her endless quest for evidence
while I did guess the killer about halfway through the book, I found I didn’t care by the ending!! the twists aren’t anything we haven’t seen before but I’m just a sucker for this trope ssshhh 😬
and then of course there’s that epilogue that screws with your brain too 🤯🤯🤯
overall, a quick (yes even for 350+ pages) domestic and psychological thriller win for me!!!
