I started this book as it was my book club’s pick for January. Overall, I thought it was a fun read (though I listened to it). It’s always sweet to read about a close knit group of friends and it just sounds like a dream to open a bookstore with my own friends!
Going into this book I wasn’t aware it was a multi-POV book - with 4 POVs. Normally, I’m not a fan of multi-POV books, but I quickly got used to this. I do believe, however, there was a bit too much going on.
While all the struggles these women face could be realistic, I think the fact that all four of them are facing these huge life events, it makes it feel a bit like a soap opera.
And because our time is split equally between all four characters, we never get to go into enough depth of how it really effects them. This is especially true when it comes to climax of the story. All of it comes to a point and it feels like it’s fixed five minutes later. Personally, I enjoy when a book “stews” in the drama before the resolution.
Overall, it was a fun read and a good way to start of my year of reading. I think a lot of my points of critique come from personal preference and this review should be taken with a grain of salt.

The theme of community was a great way to start a book club in real life. But the books had so many bad things happening to the characters it was a lot to juggle as a reader.
