next to the fifty shades of grey, this is the worst book i have ever read.

firstly, the writing style was intolerable. this book was like a wattpad book written by a twelve year old— heck, wattpad books like those might have a better writing style, actually.

secondly, this book romanticizes sexual assault. i’m not going to explain further, but drunk consent is NOT consent. taking your partner’s clothes off while they were asleep is not any better either.

thirdly, the characters were so unlikable. the only trait jason has is being a movie star and calling olive “little one”. he’s blander than mal from shadow and bone. on the other hand, olive is literally the definition of a kid in an adult body. i wanted a sunshine main character, not the whole solar system.

i wish i could tell you that it lived up to the hype, that it’s as beautiful as it sounds in the book’s description. unfortunately, it wasn’t.

(never trusting contemporary romance booktok again lol)

Really liked this book. Loved the couple, there were just the one scene where the line of consent was a bit too blurry

The first part of this book completely had my attention. Sadly, it didn't maintain it's grip on me. The whole plotline about Jason's childhood got me thinking "oh great a hero with a 'dark' past I'm on board with this".  I was waiting for that to be explored more, for Jason's character to be given more depth because of his past, but it didn't happen. (Or maybe I expected too much?)

Also, the main trope of this book is marriage of convenience. I felt like the marriage part was rushed, like I just blinked and suddenly they're married. I would have appreciated a scene with the actual marriage and seeing the MCs reactions and feelings towards it.

I think my 3.5 stars mainly came from the steam. Because they were FIRE. This author knows how to write them as hot as they can go. And I personally think that last scene in the epilogue was very cute and romantic!

Overall, I don't think this is a bad read at all. It was good, but I've read better (i.e. Marriage For One and all the love I have for that book!!!). Still recommended for an easy, although quite long, contemporary romance read with lots of steam.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book and read it in one sitting. To make my review short and sweet: I love Jason Thorn. I wish there was a lot less miscommunication. And I wish as much as I LOVED the spicy scenes, that there were more *falling in love* scenes too (not just spice and lust).

That being said, I loved the characters in this book and I’m happy with how fast paced and cute it was. It definitely gives a RomCom type of vibe and was just adorable and also sexy to read. Read this if you are looking for a cute, spicy romance to make you smile and gawk.

This was an enjoyable and yet again easy romance read. There were multiple tropes scattered throughout the novel like brothers best friend, childhood friend, actor and author, etc etc. This was all fine, I thought the actor and author thing was cute. I don’t have a lot to say about this because it wasn’t all that amazing but it was still an easy read. However I didn’t like
the scene where Olive is obviously extremely drunk and is forcing herself onto Jason and then he goes ahead and does shit to her even when she’s not in a place to give consent? And then they never brought it up again? She clearly was too drunk to even remember, that was so off to me.
The Lily/Charlotte situation was a bit out of nowhere and there wasn’t enough build up for them to literally  spike him! It was a bit irrelevant and I didn’t like the complication as a whole. Should’ve been more messy but should’ve made sense at the same time.

Those are the only complaints I have but otherwise it was pretty good.

Right off the bat I was put off by the writing style.
The author had a 10 year old boy saying things like "thank you little one. I'm sure it's delicious if you had a hand in it" WHAT!!!???
Then it was made very clear that when he was 17 and she was 13 they had this weird sort of flirty relationship.
Honestly this whole situation feels like a red flag
