A very sweet collection of poems that deal with recovering from a loss, the importance of story telling, and the love of a family. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone, but especially to anyone who loves to hear the way a good story is spun.

A sweet, quick read written in verse. Themes of family, memories, and tall tales.

A short and heartwarming little story told in poetry, though I found the ending to be a little odd and unsatisfying.

What an interesting way to write a book! It was told through poems from different characters through the story. It gave me the coziest autumn feels and filled me with nostalgia. I can't help but think of my dad with my 3 girls when I read Uncle Arthur's different stories he tells to the kids. You never quite know what to believe. This was such a heartwarming book.

A book of beautiful prose. Faith and Peter wait for Uncle Author to visit. They wonder if he will show up because he used to visit when the first apple fell every year. this year might be different, he has lost his wife, who used to visit the apple tree with him.

Every summer the children ask him what happened to his missing finger. Will this year be the year he shares the REAL story?

A nice little novel here about family, about grief and overcoming it and the power of love. A good solid story, I can't say it is overly memorable, but it has great themes, that even if the story or the source of them come from these themes will percolate inside and help change to begin within.

Uncle Peter does come, even tho his wife Lucy has passed away since their last visit. This touching story , told from the POV of a sister and skeptical brother, Uncle Peter and even Aunt Lucy (her poems) is an ode to storytelling, tradition and memories. Every year, the kids ask what happened to Uncle Peter's missing finger, and every year, he tells another whopper. What will he tell them this year?

Faith and Peter's uncle visits them every fall in applesauce season. Each visit brings his strange tales and speculation of how he lost one of his fingers. This year Faith and Peter wonder if he will visit as his wife has recently passed away. And, if he does come, will he still have his stories and will he finally share the truth of his finger?
Good for ages 9 and up.

Peter and Faith know when the apples start falling that it’s applesauce weather and Uncle Arthur will be here.

Throughout their own stories and questions, the love story between Uncle Arthur and Aunt Lucy is told with beautifully illustrated pages. Through her words you see his love for making up stories and sharing them with children.
