This book is the perfect mix of whodunit/thriller. I was on the edge of my seat and uncomfortable THE ENTIRE TIME! The absolute tension and disgust that I could palpably feel was immense. Perfect thriller and masterfully written.

This book was interesting and entertaining, but had some holes. I have been dragging my feet to read this book because I don’t usually like legal thrillers/mysteries. This story was refreshingly free of the legalese! But the story was a bit too slow to unfold. After the dramatic start, it stalled while doing basic set-up. Elise made some decisions that were in opposition to her best interests and her personal beliefs, and I found that hard to get behind. I wasn’t a fan of the ending; Elise’s actions bothered me. And Morris laid out her thesis statement as the final paragraph, which felt unnecessary and heavy-handed given the themes of the book.
