I received this book from Net Galley for my honest review.

This is the second book in this series. It does not do well as a stand alone. Having never read the first book and trying to dive right into the second was difficult.

It took me a really long time to get through this book. About the half way mark it started picking up and I started to understand the characters. Again I think this is because I did not read the first book. The dialogue was hard to pick up at first but once I got the hang of the man character and how he acted it was easier.

Multiple angles

This had multiple small stories that kept me turning the page. And when it all comes together at the end, great. Left me feeling complete and happy.

Stick with it

At first the book seemed a little far fetched with the whole angel backstory. I did power through and was able to get the full story. The storyline is okay, but does have some good character development. I did not read the first book in this series although I'm understanding they are unrelated.

The story line itself was fine, the writing was awful.

really enjoyed the series. Love both Gideon and Sirius and Gideon's type of humor. One never has all the murders tied up in a nice little bundle at the end, just like reality, but gives you enough of an idea on what might have happened.

Will get the next one in the series if it does or will exist.

The story was interesting, but the style was stilted. Russell seems to be attempting to create suspense through dropping back-story hints throughout the book instead of all at the start, but the result is clumsy and alters he flow of the story for the worse. I found myself struggling to realize when he was switching between times/story lines and having to re-read pages to get back on track.

**NOTE: This book was given to me through a goodreads giveaway**

I have thoroughly enjoyed this book! I was not expecting quite a few different events to occur. (No spoilers from me!) I did not read the first book in the series but, maybe I will get around to reading it sometime :)

I didn't read the first book in the series, but I was able to follow along the story line pretty well. Overall it's an entertaining book, but not all loose ends are tied, which is disappointing. I'd recommend it for light reading if you have some time to kill.
