I would give this a higher rating but I don't think Williamson remotely understands Batman. I think he gets Superman, and I like how he writes the character in his single run, but this isn't... Bruce being so anti-Deadman makes no real sense. He's logical enough, and smart enough to figure if it's the only way it's the only way.
He's got an iron will and a big heart and while he's also very closed off and inside his own head, I think Zdarsky gets it better and I wish he was doing the Batman issues. I feel like he gets the inside soul of the character, even with the grumpy outside. Caring about his family, caring about his friends, being willing to sacrifice himself for all of them. Instead of an irrational a$$hole. But I still am interested to see where this is going. I'm intrigued by the plot and the concept, I'm just not impressed with the execution at the moment.
Also there's some definite body horror so if you weren't expecting that, well. Heads up.
(I am collecting as much of the Dustin Nguyen covers, and I gotta say the Batman one looks great.)
