I haven't read too many Joy Fielding books, but I'm going to start looking for her more often. Excellent story line - really enjoyed this one!

I appreciated the wide cast of characters and that the antagonist turned out to be female. I figured out who it was about halfway through, but still enjoyed how it finished.

HUGE disappointment. I've never read anything by Fielding before, and not sure I will again. The cover copy seemed quite promising as I tend to enjoy suspense novels and serial killer thrillers. But I was able to figure out who the killer was within the first 100 pages, so the following 500 were a bit plodding for me. There also seemed to be a lot of soapbox passages, especially when it came to body image in girls and women, which I felt were completely unnecessary and too much repetition. I thought that this could have been easily cut by 50-100 pages without losing anything and gaining a brisker pace and more suspense. If I had my red pencil with me, this book would have been bleeding lead.

That said, it was a pretty quick read, and I did enjoy some of the complex relationships. I was also impressed by many of the chapter transitions.

I couldn't decide between three and four stars. This was extremely suspenseful and psychological, and I figured out who the criminal was at the exact right point. Not too soon, not too late. It was, however, filled with affairs and crudeness. I imagine this is one of those dime a dozen stories that are written now-a-days, but since I don't read them, I actually enjoyed it rather a lot, minus the aforementioned unnecessary nonsense.

15 down, 89 to go! :D

"Welcome to Torrance, Florida. Population: 4,160. A small town in the middle of Alligator Alley, a safe place where residents feel comfortable leaving their doors unlocked and allowing their children to run freely. It's also the town that Sandy Crosbie, a high school English teacher and mother of two teenagers, now calls home, thanks to her philandering husband who moved the family from New York just so he could live closer to the Barbie clone he secretly met on an Internet chat line. When the body of the most popular girl at Torrance High is found buried in a shallow, swampy grave, everyone in this cozy community becomes a suspect. Suddenly a down-on-his-luck sheriff must wade through the murkier depths of his otherwise sunny jurisdiction to determine who the killer is. Meanwhile, Sandy must do everything in her power to help target the attacker before it's too late. " (From Amazon)

An okay thriller...I finished the novel but it was not a favourite. It lacked the usual tension of Fielding's suspense.
