Listened to audiobook when I was on a long drive, it was entertaining for that. Basic-ish murder mystery. Turned off by the tons of fatphobia for absolutely no reason whatsoever.

Absolutely loved this book and the characters. Lots of mystery, family, too many people with motive and hilarious moments. Definitely going to get the next one.

Meeting the Characters
Noreen
Maggie Doyle
----------------------------------
What happens?
Maggie is recovering from a bad break up on Whisper Island. She is staying temporarily with her Aunt Noreen at a cafe which doubles as a movie theatre(yep) and the most hated lady on the island called Sandra is killed by spiking her drink.
Maggie is an ex police officer from America so she is naturally suspicious and has to force the local police to investigate in the first place. Unfortunatly due to the lazy police officer looking for a quick wrap up of the case and not the true murderer they arrest Maggie's aunt Noreen. Its then up to Maggie and Lenny to help the police find the actual killer and clear Noreen's name.
Final thoughts
I did like this. I liked that there is no romance, its very minimally hinted just at the end of a possible romance developing but its not the focus of this book and I like that its a mystery book.
I do knock a star off because in the middle I was a little bit lagging, finding motivation to carry on. There are so many characters trying to get a good read on who did it was very difficult something you could count as a positive or a negative based on your opinion... I am however interested in the next book.
