Touching, intimate, beautiful memoir about growing up as a queer Muslim person. I loved it so much and felt that it was very understandable and accessible as someone with no knowledge of the religion of Islam.

My favorite parts were the interspliced scenes of Lamya and moments from Islamic texts. They're so beautifully written and a gorgeous display of belief that I've never seen before. This is also a wonderful offering for people who want to live rich, queer lives without coming out to their families and losing that familial connections. I empathize so much with this. Great read!

I loved this. Very calming and reflective. I really enjoyed how passages and parables from the Quran were sprinkled throughout and how Lamya analyzed them and connected them to her life. Especially appreciated the part about using they/them pronouns for Allah

Excellent! I found this book at once relatable on an innate human level but also felt it expanded my understanding of being both queer and muslim. Lamya has done us all such a favor creating this piece. While there are dark, intimate sections the book is overall very uplifting and hopeful. Lamya does not shy away from the difficult aspects of her experience but she doesn't linger on them. A great memoir for anyone wanting to expand their own understanding of human experience.
