Wow. What an incredible read. The nonlinear story telling with extracts and ruminations on the Quran woven throughout made for an intensely compelling read. I loved the use of religious allegory as well as how well this showed Lamya grappling with her identity through the context of her faith. It was exceptionally well done. Having grown up in a religious (albeit Catholic) household, I related so hard to the constant questioning of and simultaneously cleaving to faith that feels both familiarly hypocritical but also comforting - it's an odd space to occupy and the author communicated that so well.

I look forward to whatever this author writes next.
