emotional inspiring reflective

this book has all the qualities i personally think a good book should have:
•captivating storytelling
•deepens feelings of love for humankind
•expands readers’ horizons and worldview
•calculated vulnerability
•a good ending

the author had me having to pace myself so i didn’t tear through it too fast! i had to force myself to savor it

a must read for all queer people who want to build a better world

slow-paced

This book started slow. The authors ability to write about their life and compare it back to the Quran was incredibly well done. As someone who is not religious, I still found myself deeply curious and interested in the stories she shared and how religion and queerness and life intersected. This is a fantastic, slow burn that I recommend folks read. There is so much I could say about this book.

I absolutely loved this read! Lamya did an incredible job weaving their own stories to the ones in the Quran. It was so refreshing, informative and inviting. I genuinely appreciated the opportunity have witnessed the vulnerability of self. I enjoyed the authors flow and story telling abilities.

There were so many moments Lamya’s personality jumped out that I felt I was close to them. I would love to read more of their writing. Of course the Queer/Muslim identity discovery and the complex experiences that were shared with raw emotion relatability to their faith/religion was very enjoyable for me. I already miss Layma and am eager for more storytelling.
