I cried so much reading this. But it was so cathartic. TJ Klune is easily one of my new favourite authors.

I loved this book. The characters were great and overall really nice. Definitely one of my top 10 of this year. It makes you think about certain things.

Apparently sexual harassment is funny?? This book has potential but I just cannot get over the uncomfortable dialog and situational humor. I enjoyed the philosophical parts though.

Original Review: Just perfectly wonderful and bittersweet.

Reread Review: I finished this reread a few days ago now, and it was just as good as the first time I read it.

Under the Whispering Door by TJ Klune is an adult fantasy novel with a hint of gay romance that really gives cozy vibes because of course it takes place in a tea shop. It deals with topics such as death and grief in a really respectful and refreshing manner in a way that just makes your heart feel warm. There’s found family aspects and forced proximity vibes too which is always a perk. I would highly recommend this book!

This book was something I didn’t know I needed until I read it. I loved it. I cried. It brought me a sense of completion and hopefulness I didn’t realize I lacked. It’s funny, it’s sorrowful, and it makes me a little less afraid for the “after.”

That being said, take care of yourself if you choose to read this. It’s not always cheerful; the author explores death and all the unfiltered emotions that go with it. Despite that, I don’t think you will regret reading this book.
