The book is clearly written for younger people, and meant as their first guide to birdwatching. It describes common birds found in and around our gardens, parks and ponds. It provides commentary on the birds, and their habits. However, where it falls short is in that it doesn't describe birds in a manner which will help us actually identify them. The illustrations are well done, but neither the birds nor the plants they are perched on are identified, which is a big lacune.
