No, just no. I know that this book is very much loved by a lot of people. So this just might be a me-problem. But never in my life have I been this bored by a book... and this one is only 1h 48min long, but I just can't force myself to finish it.
Since this is my second attempt at it... I'm finally giving up. This is just not for me.

I've been burned out lately and a friend recommended this book. I think I really needed this gentle and soothing tiny book.
It is without a doubt that “Letters to a Young Poet” has spoken to artists for almost a century. And now I know why.
Rilke was a famous German poet, born in Prague. He traveled widely throughout Europe, married and had a daughter. A dozen years out of school, after Rilke had achieved some fame as a poet, a young man wrote to him asking for advice about life and poetry. Rilke wrote ten letters to him over five years.
Rilke emphasizes over and over the importance of solitude, of not creating art with the idea of outside reaction. These are all good pieces of advice to any writer or artist, or even human being in general.
I didn't quite connect with all of Rilke's thoughts, some of them felt a bit too philosophical for me. But there are many gems that make this lovely collection well worth reading.
If you're seeking validation from others, read this book. It's comforting.

Minha carta favorita é a sobre o amor - em que o autor tece uma crítica ao apressamente desse que considera um processo de aprendizagem e amadurecimento individual -, e o feminismo (inesperado), na qual ele conclui:
Esse amor mais humano (que se realizará de modo infinitamente atencioso e suave, bom e claro, na união e na dissolução) vai se assemelhar àquele que preparamos lutando com esforço, ao amor que consiste em duas solidões se protegendo, se delimitando e se congraçando.
Ao final, os questionamentos de Rilke revelam-se a estrada de pedrinhas brilhantes que movem o poeta ao encontro da solidão, melancolia, alteridade estranha e, ainda, ao florecimento de seu contentamento, coragem e esperança.
