Soooo I've got some complicated feelings with this book.

I absolutely did not like the main character and his storyline. He was annoying, naïve and mean and his storyline was very generic "lets go to place A. Oh no something bad happens, lets move onto place B"

Simultaneously I LOVED every side POV character, in particular Katherine and Shrike (& their plot). Shrike has my entire heart and he's a new favorite character of all time.
I also really enjoyed the love stories and how unconventional they were, especially for its time.

Furthermore there is so much heartbreaking death in this and I love it. But also, what the fuck Phillip?!
(Even more important after knowing the ending of this series. Just what the fuck man? Who hurt you?)

The story was more youthful than I was expecting. Still a good fantasy/dystopian story for younger readers.

I loved the idea, the concept or the setting of having mobile cities eating each other. I also liked how cities are built vertical where the poor lived at the bottom and the rich at the top tier and how the train stations are now elevator stations.

I didn’t like the childish tone of the book. I wish the book wasn’t a "Young Adult" fiction. I didn’t care for any character in the book. I didn’t think the characters were well developed. The events were all over the place. It will however make a really entertaining movie.

I read and enjoy a lot of YA and Middle grade fiction, however I just did not connect with these characters. I’m not sure what was missing, but whatever it was this book just left me cold. I did finish it. It is possible that kids might enjoy this!

While I appreciate the concept of roving cities, I just did not like them in this story. My favorite characters were very much on the edges of the story (Ms Fang and Dog); I’m simply not interested in the main characters. As one would expect, I’m not interested in reading the next story in this series.

I really enjoyed this book, especially its pacing. I saw the movie a few times without realising it was based on a book, so I couldn't wait to pick it up. At no point in the book was I bored or lost interest. All the characters had interesting sub-plots, and I can't wait to continue my journey with the next book. It's a shame that the movie fell flat, as there was so much that could have been explored.

This book is tough to review. It came very highly recommended but... I... kind of hated it. It was bad. I couldn't believe it was had a sequel let alone a trilogy. I mean, the book felt like a stand alone, and then they tacked an extra chapter on it to continue it. It gave me no motivation to continue reading it. All the people I was rooting for were dead. Who was I left with the main characters whom I truly disliked. Disappointing.

“You aren’t a hero, and I’m not beautiful, and we probably won’t live happily ever after,” she said. “But we’re alive, and together, and we’re going to be all right.”
😭😭❤️ Oh. My. Gosh. I was NOT expecting to love this book as much as I did. I’ll have a full review on my blog this week, but for now I’ll just say this is going to be a series I eat up faster than a hungry traction city. 😉
