Think Notting hill but with lesbians in a seaside town and instead of a bookshop it's a wine shop. If soppy romantic lesbian stories are your thing then this should tick your boxes

This has come up against my pet peeve of including someone of a specific group and having it not really matter because they don't actually have any of the attributes or issues of that group. In this case, Kirsty is nearly 50 but despite never working out is fit to an extent that is envied by an actual Hollywood action star, passes for someone in her thirties and is a youthful personality, which just makes me wonder what the point is of making her older. That kind of thing just annoys me a great deal and makes the story much less nuanced.

I absolutely love the collaboration of these authors.

This book had me on edge at times anxiously wondering if it will work out or not. It had me actually laughing out loud at times as well.

One of my favorite recent reads for sure.

This was a delightfully well written and enjoyable read. The seaside town of Sandy Cove was the perfect backdrop for this age-gap celebrity romance. Saffron and Kirsty were wonderful main characters and the supporting characters really added to the story. One Golden Summer is a low angst, low drama read with some witty dialogue and a couple of spicy scenes. I think that Clare Lydon and TB Markinson penned a really adorable story together. Thanks ladies!

Couldn't feel the chemistry between the characters. The dialogue was often choppy and monotonous. Both main characters acted as people far younger than their supposed ages.

Over-written and predictable, sub-Notting Hill lesfic. Refreshing to have a decent age gap that isn't really made an issue of though.

I very much enjoyed this story of two women learning to trust themselves and each other in a cozy seaside village. The main and sub characters were developed well, and I can see future books showing what the characters are up to now. The authors did a great job of showing the reader the village and its inhabitants. I was able to picture myself sipping a pint in the pub by the sea and watching the waves roll in. The situations that arose were not simplistic but had reason and follow through. This was a great book that I could not put down. Well done scenes. Highly recommend this duo of writers. The book has lingered in my thoughts.
