Captivating listen even while I've been stressed - good to take your mind off thins but definitely a dark thriller.

I really enjoyed this thriller. The first chapter was just phenomenal and it kept getting better and better. In the end things started to not make sense.
How did the physician that made the autopsy miss such obvious signs? A normal person could have seen that the death of a certain person didn't happen that way. And don't get me started on the issue with the police officer. You mean to tell me that there is only one person entrusted with an extremely important document for a high profile case? I call BS.
So in that regard the book gets 2 stars for me. The fact that I still rated that book 3.5 stars is only because of my entertainment. I was hooked from the first chapter and couldn't put the book down. All throughout my reading journey I kept wondering who did it and what exactly happened. I certainly didn't see it coming, which is mainly because the ending is just too far fetched. So, if you want a thriller with a coherent plot that actually makes sense and doesn't spiral out of control, this is not for you.

Oof that was a heavy one. The kind you need to follow up with a light fluffy read as a palette cleanser. But it was good. Didn’t see the twists coming (although I rarely do, so maybe I’m just a bad detective).

First thing I will say, fantastic foreshadowing. How terrifying, slowly figuring out who did it, small clues clicking into place as you read on, what amazing delivery. The characters were well written and realistic, everything was so vivid. It wasn't as scary as I expected coming into it but I still really enjoyed it. I really recommend this, but be wary of the triggers!

I saw this book was highly rated and thought I would love it too. But I was slightly disappointed by it. Don't get me wrong, it flows nicely. Somewhere in the middle, it feels the author themselves did not know where it was going.

It felt like a lot of fluff in the middle about what it is to be a doula (one of the main characters is a doula), some gynec stuff that I found to be a bit disturbing and really didn't contribute anything to the story.

The beginning is promising, it intrigues you, pulls you in and somewhere in the middle it just lets you... hang around. You don't know why you are there but you are waiting for something to happen but it isn't happening. I was mostly skimming paragraphs about information that did not contribute anything to advance the plot.

A lot of things were great about this book, but definitely not the way the author wrapped things up. SPOILER
For instance, I did not like that Gus was just an imaginary character, he could've been the child that was supposedly miscarried. Otherwise, what was the point of dropping the info about "Marty got me pregnant but I got a miscarriage" then?
I also did not like how the other Delilah did not get much attention later on. She just moves? That's it? I feel like that did not get closure

OH and the writing annoyed me a lot of times. It was like the author thought it was necessary to be condescending to the readers so lets go ahead and break a moderately complex sentence into 6! Wasn't a fan.

This book could've been so much better, my fever induced dreams created better endings for this book than when I finally read it.
