Een prachtig boek. Geschreven op een manier zoals ik nog nooit eerder heb gelezen en heb van elke bladzijde genoten.
Wat een goede schrijver is die David Mitchell toch, maar ook de vertaler heeft zijn werk uitstekend gedaan, om de dialecten zó goed t vertalen, dat vergt echt kunde.
Eigenlijk heb ik veels te lang over dit boek gedaan naar mijn eigen believen, maar het zij zo. Op naar de volgende.

This feels like art, like Mitchell really gave something about himself and his thoughts. Great exploration of (human) nature. Hopeful after all.
Me encantaría poder decir que quede verdaderamente satisfecho, pero solo me estaría mintiendo a mí mismo.
Hay un sentimiento de épica en esta novela que nunca consigue despegar del todo. Los temas están ahí, pero están tan desperdigados en cada relato que una unidad conceptual más satisfactoria simplemente se le escapa a su creador, sobre todo tomando en cuenta la idealización de sus últimas páginas cuando la historia central situada en un futuro post-apocalíptico, ya no existe esa esperanza.
Las ideas nunca dejan de estar presentes, pero nunca traspasan la formalidad de su estructura.
Esta es una novela amena y entretenida, pero dista mucho de aquello que yo había escuchado sobre ella.
