Quick read. Shocking & revealing story about a Mormon polygamist colony in Mexico. Strong family themes. Ultimately a sad story but triumphant ending.
Could not put this book down!! I had to keep reminding myself how old the children were when they bravely faced their life! I could not imagine a life like that. Many times I said "No! That can't happen!"
Such a riveting story.. Sad that someone grew up like that..I think her mom really was just looking for love, but the heartbreak that went with that for her and her babies! Super sad. Just say NO to polygamy!
Your heart will break a million times over in this riveting memoir about growing up in a polygamist fundamentalist group. That this woman was able to write this memoir is really pretty astounding on it's own. She does a great job explaining her thoughts and feelings in this tumultuous childhood. Highly recommend.
Chapter 30 made me want to throw my Kindle across the room. But this was a good, heartbreaking book.
Wow, this was dramatic! I kind of questioned whether I wanted to start it once I knew but I was already hooked! And I read the whole book in about four days, because it is very hard to put down! I was grimacing during a lot of the story, but I guess I'm glad I read it?

Another viewpoint into one of the major Fundamental Mormon clans. Well written and evocative.
Wow. Wow, wow, wow. A compelling story told by a master storyteller. This book ticks all the boxes: a riveting plot, compelling characters, and beautiful language. My library was honored today when Ruth visited us, read a selection, and patiently answered all our questions. . This book is recommended for book clubs interested in exploring questions of family, faith, and free will.
Such a great read but also a hard read. Incredibly heartbreaking.
