This book was good and I thought it was interesting the way the story moved. Slowly at first and the. Fast like we were running out of time. I like how firmly this is his story. This caught me at the bad time of school becoming more intense and the plague and things are hard? I did enjoy this story telling and I think the monsters and shape of the story is innovative. The characters felt real especially because of their flaws.

Meh. I was drawn to this because of the cosmic horror aspect, but I was already struggling to care about the characters when the initial “cosmic other” creature started talking to the protagonist at which point I was done. I just didn’t care enough and the creature was already uninteresting enough without it talking.

DNF at 45%, just absolutely not for me. The dialogue felt like something from the CW but even worse???

The story itself was a solid 4. The quest to find clues and eventually a solution was entertaining, I enjoyed that.

However, Nick's constant inner whining and insecurities got on my nerves after a while. I understand where those come from, but it was a bit much and it kind of ruined the experience.

Want to like it but having to force myself to read it, and not loving the first person

There's slow build and then there's drip feeding information, I'm more desperate for An Event than the monsters are.
