This is a fun, new middle-reader book. As I was reading, I was reminded of Roald Dahl stories. At the end, the author mentions being inspired by Roald Dahl and Edward Eager (we loved his Half Magic books when our kids were young). Milo Speck's adventure begins while doing laundry. He is sucked through his dryer vent into a land of Ogres. Milo runs into another human - a self-important girl named Tuck. Together they foil the evil plot designed to provide an unending supply of human children for the ogres to eat. While it's great to have so many good books with strong female characters, it was refreshing to read one where a boy gains some confidence by knocking the overly confident girl down a peg or two. Kids will find plenty to giggle at in this corny and pun-filled adventure.

This is a cute fun story even if it's not my particular favorite type. I'm super excited to have to recommend to young fantasy lovers I know.

I always knew there was a conspiracy with socks and dryers!
So begins the adventure with Milo and his dryer.
Plot driven, yet with characters who change and grow, this book has wonderful elements to share and discuss with readers.
Be sure to have this book on your must read list!

When Milo Speck is sucked through his dryer into a world full of ogres (aptly named Ogregon), he sets off on an unexpected adventure. At first he is merely trying to save himself, but when he learns that his dad and his dad's boss are also involved, he knows what that he will do whatever it takes to get them safely home -- even if that means riding giant turkeys and facing a room full of ogres who want to eat him for lunch. As Milo finds out, nothing that he thought was true is really as it seemed. In fact, it is so much better than he ever imagined. A fun and exciting adventure recommended for grades 3-5.

What a wonderful adventure!
I loved this book. It was well-written and engaging. I especially liked all of the puns and various word-related humor. I can definitely see a parent reading this to a child and both of them enjoying it immensely.
Great plot. And I loved Milo's character. You can definitely see the influence of The BFG in this book, but it is still very much its own story.
The only drawback for me was that I felt it could have been shorter than it was. Basically, anything bad that could happen did and everything that could go wrong did. I think some of this could have been cut out to make a more concise story. I enjoyed reading it, but it felt too stretched out at times. It got to the point that if Milo made some sort of plan, I began to expect it to go horribly wrong.
But overall, this was a great read. Humorous, adventurous, and fun. Definitely worth the read.

This was super cute. Full of delightful, perfectly done humor, a well-paced story, and some really great twists and turns. I wish it was the first in a series!
