Didn’t fully finish it but as I had to study it for school I was reading one of the stories eight times so I’m gonna count it. I really did enjoy some of the story’s but I just could keep ready (probably as it was an assigned book)

I really loved reading this collection of short stories! I had only read maybe one other collection before because I thought I was more into longer narratives but if this is anything to go by, I was wrong. I thought each story was excellent - some more than others obviously - but Beneba Clarke is truly, truly talented at embodying a range of voices and engaging a reader quickly. Furthermore, these stories are important! They are diverse, eye-opening, confronting and sometimes brutally honest, and I wish more people would access them and bear witness to some of the perspectives she gives. 4.5 stars.

there are at least three stories in this collection which are about as good as story-telling can possibly get, and they are all incredibly well-written and thought-provoking and honest.
