Years ago, I bought the first book in this series even though it was expensive, and I had little money, because I opened it up and it made me smile. I still reach for it when I’m feeling down - a series of little comic strips, the author managed to turn them into a collection. It was a great joy to me to receive the next two books in the series this year for my birthday, and this one made me smile just as much. A lot of the comics are quite short, around a page, but there are some deeper looks into the man’s past, and a bit of backstory like his late wife asking for a cat and passing away before he gets Fukumaru, the large exotic that no one wanted. Highly recommend for cat lovers, those with pets, manga fans and people who just need a smile.

This made me cry every few pages - sometimes because of the emotion and sometimes because of the cuteness. I don’t have a cat but I got the love and the loneliness that we can feel and that pets can alleviate.
This is what I need at the end of a crappy week. 5 stars for that.
I will say that this book is a series of short so best to space it out between volume 1 and volume 2.

Still loving this series, though skipping ahead and coming back to this volume helped me see how much the writing has grown!

This manga continues to be absolutely adorable and totally on point! You can tell the author knows what it's like to live with a cat! It's also surprisingly heartwrenching at times, drawing a tear to the eye just as easily as a smile to the face 🥲 Highlights from this volume: a scene that was just like my cat, playing with my pen when I'm trying to work, and my dog, Chappie, practically making a cameo at the end!
