This book was incredible. If comparing to SJM’s other series it’s the Heir of Fire of the ACOTAR series. She writes such strong, dynamic women who GO THROUGH IT. I loved this book. So much. Might be my favorite SJM book. SJM is a girls girl and I will not be taking questions at this time.

This was a bit longer than it needed to be, but I still enjoyed it. Nesta was well flushed out as a character, even if the characterization was a bit inconsistent at times.

i cannot put into proper words what this book made me feel. a beautiful examination of mental health and sisterhood and the true meaning of what it means to love, both someone else and yourself. nesta’s journey is absolutely beautiful, and her point of view is heartwrenching and painfully relatable. watching her triumph over not only physical challenges, but her own mind and heart, was incredibly emotional and rewarding.

I struggled with how many stars to rate this, because I absolutely loved some parts and absolutely hated others. I settled on 3.5 stars because I loved the main plot of Nesta overcoming her self-loathing to become something greater; I found a lot of her negative self-talk to be very relatable.

I could have done without Feyre’s pregnancy body horror subplot. The worst part about it was that they all kept it from her about how risky the labor would be. I really didn’t like that, because it really made Rhysand and the inner circle out to be no better than Tamlin, as keeping things from Feyre was Tamlin’s MO. Also don’t even get me started on Feyre and Rhysand’s glorified suicide pact (I’d somehow blocked that out of my memory until it came into play in this book).

All in all, a solid book, and of course I’ll keep reading any more she writes in the series.

You should need to be IDed to read this book oh my gosh. Nesta is my fav now I fear, this book portrays the complexities of attachment and grief and fear and mental health in such a raw way that I really resonate with. A completely different love story from fayre and Rhys, but if you don’t compare the two it’s really fantastic.
