I read this months ago and never finished it. Personally, I found the writing horrible and the whole setting... bleh.
I was so disappointed because I've heard nothing but outstanding reviews from all of my friends and the general public.

This was Dark with a capital D. Although it was well written and engrossing, I don't think I'll read the second one. Just not my cup of tea.

3.5 A solid beginning to a trippy, horror, fantasy that its premise reads like Peter Pan on speed. The intricate world and mythology behind this purgatory world called Everlost and what happens to these dead children trapped in it is pretty interesting overall. I like how everything unfolded as well, but set itself up for the next book.

This is an interesting concept with much more to be explored. I'm hoping the characters get fleshed out a bit more in the rest of the series now that the world and rules are established.

If there was a favorite of my favorites, this would be there. Break ALL the paradigms! Neal Shusterman might be my favorite man alive.
