Amelia Brennan arrives in Arcana Falls on the hunt for her sister, Ivy. Little does she know that there's wolves in these woods. Mason Quinn, one of the alphas of the community, feels the immediate click of a mate bond when he lays eyes on Amie. She's everything he never knew he wanted; now if only he can convince her to give him a shot. Amie has no problem falling into bed with Mason, but the problem of her fiancée, the upcoming wedding, her missing sister, and Aunt Nellie's meddling with the witches are all vying for the first place position in her mind. Mason isn't willing to give Amie up, so he will just have to convince her that her rightful spot is the one next to him. It doesn't hurt that he's willing to do *anything* to prove himself to her. Can he convince her to change her world around enough to fit him in it?

DD Prince's Savage Alpha Shifters series follows the seven alphas of Arcana Falls. When I read Wild (Ivy and Tyson's story, book 1 of the series), I thought that it was a promising beginning of this new series. However, Twisted blew Wild out of the water! Mason is the ultimate package; handsome, successful, and dedicated. Amelia thinks she's a consolation prize to him, since she doesn't think of herself as the whole package. Oh boy, is he off to prove her wrong! A majority of the book is him letting her be herself and him standing right there to catch her if she stumbles along the way. Bravo, Mason! I'm here for it!

I’m dying for book 3! This was such a great ride. There’s so much going on in this world with the witches and the shifters, I love it! Arcana Falls is definitely a magical place.

Amelia drove me nuts. She’s so stubborn. But I’m glad she was able to give Mason the happiness he deserved. I can’t wait to read about the hot mess that is Riley and Erica.

Hm, nope.

A little friendly disclaimer: I'm not a fan of this author.

Why would I read a book by her though, you wonder? Well, I love shifter/paranormal romances and the first book sounded interesting enough. I actually read and finished book one much to my surprise so I was sorta looking forward to checking out the next one.

So, anyway... This was sorta entertaining for the first few chapters though it did relive a lot of the last chapters in the first book but from Masons POV. But again, this author's writing style is just so not my jam. Acquired tastes, personal preference... whatever you want to call it. Point is, I was reminded just how exhausting her writing is because they write way too much detail when a little goes a long way. Why is that bad? Well, honestly I personally don't see why every chapter has to be an endless stream of inner monologue by the character(s) where it goes on and on and then almost makes no sense to the point they've simply dissolved into rambling. It doesn't matter to the story telling IMO. It almost always reads like a bad info dump or someone's journal where they just mindlessly chatter without pause about everything that pops into their head. This can be entertaining and tolerable in some contexts but usually not. Now much of my opinion about this is based off of the fact I'm a very seasoned reader who is also very picky with what they read and knows what sort of writing and styles they like and don't. So, teenage me prob wouldn't have had an issue with this particular (amateur-ish) style. The narrative just doesn't work for me as a reader.

I found it exhausting.

Omg! I loved Mason! That there is how you do a book boyfriend!

I'm officially hooked and utterly devastated that I can't live in Arcana Falls.

So I’m just gonna go ahead and stop here. After the first book I wasn’t sure if I would like to continue this series and now I know I’m gonna pass. Here’s why…

First, the author’s writing style is rather dull with far too much inner dialog. The last book was over 400 pages with no real plot and this one is over 700 pages and seems like it’s going in the same direction. The inner dialog drags on and on and almost gets off track from whatever is happening to the point where I forget what was even happening before she finally gets back out of the character’s head.

I like how she writes werewolves that knot and have fated mates. But I don’t like everything else about it. These guys are mating with humans who have no clue what’s going on. I’m all for dub con, but there is literally no consideration for a learning curve. It’s just “mine” “mate” and no explanation to them. No even attempting to woo them before getting their dicks wet. And after the fact they consider themselves married to the point where their last name changes. It’s just…awkward.

But honestly the thing that is the worst is being unnecessarily long with no plot and hordes of internal dialog. It’s just not fun to read so I’m gonna stop and have to pass on the rest of the series.

Oh, Mason, how I love you.

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that while Tyson is the Alpha, Mason has him beat. Gah, I cannot even believe that I am saying that but after this book, Mason is going to be hard to beat. I knew that this author was going to knock my socks off. however, what I didn't know was how fast. All the pieces that I had wondered about that had happened with Mason and Tyson in the first book came together. It was even more complex than I was prepared for and I love that the author had laid the groundwork and foundation in the first book because it enhanced it in this one. I can only imagine how much better it is going to get with the additional Alphas when they find their mates because I have a very funny feeling that there is a WHOLE lot of magic at play here and not just with Ivy and Amelia.

This was a story that packed a punch. It is a big book, but that is not surprising because I don't think that this author knows how to write small. I am 1000% percent okay with that because it never feels like extra fluff. Even though this happens in a, relatively short period of time, it doesn't feel like it. There is a depth to it that makes me invested in what is happening. It is very reminiscent of Kristen Ashley in that way which is even more fantastic since she is one of my all-time favorites.

There is mystery, magic, hotter than hot smexy times, and intense characters. The dialogue and banter are fantastic. I laughed out loud several times. The way that Mason was with Amelia was so very swoon-worthy. He never doubted this connection and did everything he could to make it so that she understood that. Amelia fought him tooth and nail but that was because she had her own demons and baggage to deal with. I liked that while similar to Ivy, she also was uniquely her own. There were some heartwarming scenes, one in particular, being between the sisters.

I loved the happily ever after for these characters. The epilogue was really cute. It also, opened up where this series is going in the future. I look forward to that because all of these characters are amazing and I look forward to seeing them in the future--either as the main character or again as secondary characters.

I cannot recommend this author enough. There is a reason that she is one of my favorites, regardless of the trope. I tried to stop reading and go to bed at 40% but I ended up reading until almost 4 in the morning, despite needing to be up in a few hours for work, because I just tossed and turned and needed to find out how this ended. If that isn't a testament to good this author is then I don't know what else would be. BRAVO.

Great second instalment to "wild"
Mason was so freaking sweet it damn near gave me a toothache.
Amelia was stubborn and hard headed in her way of thinking, frustrating at times but all part of the build up.
I have soooo many question left open for future books, I'll look forward to entering into the world of witches for the next book.
Also the ending made me SUPER happy
