This book fell totally flat for me. It never gripped me, whether on the serial killer side or the romance one.
The latter was surprisingly too conventional for the plot, and the former was not realistic with too many gaps in the logic, as if it was not really important.

read this as a palate cleanser after reading too much YA. needed the shock factor. but after the initial shock wore off, it got boring and did not give the thrill that i was looking for. i guess once you've read enough dark romance comedies, it gets pretty predictable.
B&B is still my favorite Brynne Weaver book.

3.5 ✨
Tropes:
♡ Serial killer romance
♡ Dark romance
♡ Workplace rivals to lovers
♡ Stalking kink
I was actually very excited to read this book solely because of it being a rival serial killers to lovers romance. It caught my attention just after seeing one quote from it and I was optimistic. But I have to be honest and say that it didn’t really catch my attention as much as I wanted it to. I honestly think it was because I read it on my flight back home and I was already delusional by my fourth book on one flight so it didn’t click for me like I wanted it to.
So I just wanna justify my low rating because if I read it in different circumstances I may have liked it more. But to my bad judgment the storyline didn’t really make sense to me and I have no doubt it’s not the authors’ fault but my own. I can imagine me giving it a second chance in the future and see if it makes more sense to me.
But something I did love about it was the murder mystery around the plot and how Kyrie and Jack as two serial killers started to work together to figure out what had happened. But it actually was pretty interesting to see two serial killers who tries to blame murders on each other in the beginning come together and become better humans. Their love story was definitely not something that it did not make sense to me, it was just the circumstances that I read it in and I’m pretty bummed about that. It has nothing to do with Trisha and Brynne’s writing or abilities because they are great.

I enjoyed this book, partly because I have a soft spot for forensic scientists—especially when paired with the intriguing twist of a double life as a serial killer.
While the romance was engaging and delivered on expectations, I found myself wishing for a more gripping, page-turning plot. As someone who values both strong storytelling and compelling characters, the lack of narrative depth left me slightly underwhelmed.
Overall, it’s a solid read for twisted dark romance lovers but could have used a bit more balance to fully realize its potential.

This was amazing!!! The spicy scenes were top tier & I absolutely loved the characters! 100% recommend
I just wasn't hooked and I didn't feel there was a story line going. I may try it again later but for now, nope.
