Perhaps I’m a bit unhinged but I really enjoyed this one (except for the somnophilia 🫣). Jack and Kyrie are rival academics and serial killers who start killing each others’ targets and/or trying to get the other caught for murder. Then of course they team up 🏹🔪🪤
Definitely reminiscent of Butcher and Blackbird (also by Brynne Weaver) and Mindf*ck series by ST Abby

OH. MY. GOD. Absolutely fucking obsessed.
Kyrie is my new favorite FMC. She is a bad bitch that one ups Jack around every corner and I was living for it!!! Kyrie and Jack’s chemistry is unmatched. I could not stop reading. Their love was so fucking powerful I could feel it in my soul. I laughed, I sobbed, I clenched my kitty

This collaboration was a great one. Having read some of Trisha's work before, I just knew this was going to be great. I havent had the benefit of reading Brynne yet, but I have now added a few of her books to my TBR list!
There's something beautiful in the way these two have used the written word to put this story together. It is so beautifully written, that it just makes it such a joy to read.
We begin this tale with Kyrie and Jack enemies. Kyrie is set to make Jacks life hell. It becomes clear that they have a past somehow, though we don’t know what and because of this she is determined to upset Jack's order.
Jack is meticulous, he likes his routine, and everything must not be out of place. Ever since Kyrie has arrived, he hasn’t know what to do, it has thrown him out of sorts.
Kyrie recognised that they were both alike and wanted to be able to coexist, to be a part of something, but she feels that Jack cannot see past his own arrogance so now she just wants him gone.
They begin a game, a competition, to see which one will come out the victor.
What begins is a grotesque game of cat and mouse between two serial killers. We finally learn how these two are connected and begin to understand why Kyrie has been so adamant about ruining Jack.
We learn that everything the Jack does is because he has become intrigued by Kyrie and once she suffers a flashback from the past, Jack digs further and we finally learn how these two are connected.
Things change between them from this point and now they begin to work together in order to handle outside forces.
Knowing what these two are capable of makes the depths of their feelings and the lengths that they will go to for each other all the more beautiful.
Jacks possessiveness and how he cares for her is endearing coming from a serial killer. Anyone that has read the Darkly, Madly duet will enjoy this read.
The level of detail within the pages makes this even better. You get the visual and you feel everything. I just loved it!!
Both of these characters will stay with me for a good long while.
