An interesting mix of courage, stupidity and consequences of actions. It takes all sorts to be a hero and it is nice that they aren’t always human.
This was a cute, enjoyable book. It draws on the style of classic fairytales, but the substance of the story differs from tradition quite a bit. I think it would thrill children.
A story I must have missed out on as a kid, but such a lovely read aloud with my own children. Both of my kids were often left speechless at the actions and words of various characters throughout the story and it promoted a lot of good discussions on how to treat others, diversity/individuality, empathy, bravery and more. A cute little tale of adventure and the courage a little mouse found within himself. We wrapped up the end of the book by watching the movie as well!
I was worried this would be another Redwall, but it wasn't. It was a cute book about a mouse who falls in love with a princess, gets banned to the dungeon with the rats and tries to defeat the rats to save the princess. It was very interesting and told from 3 different perspectives. I highly recommend it.
I read this with my four year old son and we enjoyed it. It was exciting and engaging, if lacking a little in depth. But a great story for a younger crowd.

A történet pedig roppant bájos, bár azt hiszem inkább úgy 8-10 éves
kortól ajánlott mert nem bánik kesztyűs kézzel az élet sötét oldalával. Van itt ugyanis halál, butuska, szerencsétlen sorsú szolgálólány, kegyetlen patkányok és cserbenhagyások. Kate DiCamillo azonban rutinosan kezeli a dolgokat, s bár olvastam pár kritikát, hogy túl félelmetes a történet, szerintem egyszerűen csak nincs cukrosmázba csomagolva. Ráadásul úgy tudta megszólítani az olvasót, meg magyarázott el dolgokat, hogy azok egyáltalán nem tűntek erőltetettnek. Ja és mindemellett még én is tényleg izgultam, hogy mi lesz a mese vége.
