Unfortunately this was a DNF at 25% for me. I leave this review with good intentions for advice for the author.

The bones to make a very interesting story are all there, and I’m not entirely sure if this book has been beta read or looked at by anyone but the author but it is extremely confusing. The scenes are very jumpy, to the point where the characters are doing one thing then appearing at the next with no continuity which is a big no no. There is a LOT of information missing; things are happening with next to no description, to the point that at 25% I didn’t even know what was happening in the grand scheme of the plot. For a book as short as this one, we need to be set up VERY early with some world building and while we need the fast pace, there’s no point in doing that if we have no clue what is happening and we’re jumping around all the time from one paragraph to the next.

There is no world building at all. We have events happening with no information to speculate why, a love interest that appeared from no where who in one sentence we have just met, to meeting the parents and being in what seems to be a relationship barely paragraphs later, but then they are fake dating which was not made clear. There are strange conversations happening with zero context…. I fully understand that the author probably knows where the book is going but as a reader we need information to make things make sense, and nothing made sense unfortunately. This is all only the first quarter of the book.

I do hope this author doesn’t take this review the wrong way, as all I want is the best I don’t like to leave reviews like this hence why I did not give it a rating, but unfortunately this one needs a fair bit of work before it is ready to be enjoyed by readers. I’m so sorry!
