This was a pretty good conclusion for this romantic horror duet. I felt sorry for Elise the entire time. She was so young to go through all she went through. Sophie was heroic once again. I will say that I wanted a little more back story on the estate they visited, as well as the owner. Joseph is a sweet soul and I liked the way he and Sophie grew as a couple in this one!

This was just *ok*. Definitely one of the weaker Coates books I’ve read. It felt unnecessary & dragged things out only to reach a similar, less epic, ending as the first book.

2.5/5 scary monsters

I enjoyed this even more than the first one. I wasn't sure if the book would be better because of what happens in book one but I was wrong. Darcy Coates has a way of writing these awesome horror scenes. She really brings a book to life with those. I enjoyed the main characters even more than in book one. They didn't annoy me then but i felt like the book could have been longer to flesh out their romance a bit more but they come together nicely here. We even see Sophie show even more spunk that she's not even aware she has. The more of Darcy's books i read, the bigger of a fan I become.

3.75. little slow but picked up towards the end

the romance is still annoying, but i did finish this in one sitting.

content warnings: blood, death, corpses, possession, ghosts

Satisfying conclusion

I really enjoyed this sequel. The story was well placed and enjoyable. The ending was satisfying. I love how subtle the scares were.

Fun and creepy conclusion to this duology! I did enjoy these books, but I think I still like Darcy Coates’ Haunting Of…books the most!

Was this book objectively spectacular? Nah.

Did I love it? Oh yeah.
