This was so boring! I almost DNF. Everything is told, very little is shown, and I was ready for it to finish by the 70% mark, and yet it still went on, and on, and on… Showing nothing! There were many time skips of weeks or months and we’re only told what happened during that time. We’re told the enemy is so dangerous and lethal, but we never see the actual fight, it’s always second hand recounting of things, so it was hard to believe there was any danger at all, especially when they could just use another “shell” to put their soul into, a la Altered Carbon (that show did it better, BTW). The relationship was hard to believe, too, since a lot of it is a recount of what happened during the time skips. I guess that's because this was written as book 3, and not book 1, and maybe those books are more interesting, but this series is not my thing. I will try reading other works of the author, since her Prime Mating Agency series is so popular, but I'm done with this one.

Originally read as part of a Pets in Space anthology, this version has been updated and expanded. Liked it both times! I did get a giggle out of Doom and his brother's semi-ridiculous names (Rage, Wrath, Torment, etc .. ). Thankfully they don't have the personalities to live up to the name and have a fun sibling relationship among the 5 or so main guys. Victoria adapts quickly to hanging out with aliens, but I'll attribute that to her job demanding quick thinking. I'm glad that she found friends among some of the other human support crew as well as making friends with Stran.

The ending bits seemed new to me, and I think cover the same time frame as some of the following books. It did feel a little rushed, like there was a lot of catch-up information to cram in there, but I do appreciate that there was a span of time from the start of the book to the end - it doesn't seem like all of the Xian Warriors are going to fall in love bambambam in a row, like can often happen.

I really liked both Doom and Victoria. I thought they were well paired and cute together. This was definitely more intense than the Prime Mating Agency series. In this series earth is in a furious battle against these alien bugs, who are using viable women to breed and the rest of humanity as a food source. The Xian warriors come to help earth and end up finding the hope for their future within earth as well.

Truthfully I couldn't really focus on the romance. Those bug aliens and the whole scenario they were creating on earth had me so disgusted. The story also had so much action within it and our heroes spent a short amount of time together, but somehow still fell in love. This is insta love on the Xian warrior's part and attraction turned to love on the human female part. Despite all of this, I still found the book interesting and the romance adorable.

3.5 stars.
This was good. And I really enjoyed it, but you could definitely tell it was mostly just a prequel novel.
There was more focus on world building and explanations than there was on the relationship between Doom and Victoria.
But, still.
It was a good time.
I did really enjoy getting to know them, and I loved the warriors being so excited at the end, and Stran was a cool addition.

Also. I always love that she includes illustrations of the aliens at the end so we can see if our imagination was right. Mine rarely is but it’s still fun.

Después de leerme la saga de la agencia primaria he seguido con esta en la que hay más sexo con aliens, me encanta la forma en la que la autora mete romántica en esta cifi soft.

okay loving this??? after i finished all of her “i married __” i knew i had to dive into all her worlds- i love the more sci-fi feel of these xian warrior books!! still monster-esque but also IPB and just general alien invasion stuff
the romance was so sweet and also kinda heartbreaking but it all turned out amazing

overall: 4/5
spice: 2/5
